Thanksgiving in Bristol, TN

Andrea and I decided to rent a cabin in the mountains for Thanksgiving. After she gave me the job of finding the cabin, I set out to find a place with everything Andrea wanted (fireplace, complete kitchen, surrounded by nature) and then I added my own qualification...close to a trout stream. We settled on Anderson's Riverside Cabin next to the South Holston River in Bristol, TN. The cabin was perfect. Andrea slept in everyday and woke up to read by the fire while deer and turkey roamed around outside. I woke up by 4:30 everymorning to hit the river in search of trophy brown trout. I ended up landing 4 fish over 20 inches, including a 25 inch brown and a 29 inch brown. I only fished until 9:00am each morning and then AJ and I spent the rest of the day together.

On Wednesday we went into Bristol to see the Bristol Speedway in Lights. We drove through all of the lights and ended up on the race track where I was able to take the banked curve in the old Dodge. On Thanksgiving we hiked several miles through the mountians to the river and then made it back to the cabin to make a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Everything turned out perfectly and we topped off the night with some wine and some intense games of Battleship (which we purchased at the local Walmart). On Friday we went to the Bristol Caverns for a cave tour. We are already talking about planning our next trip up there.

Veteran's Day

In honor of Veteran's Day, I thought I would post a really neat picture that our friend Cathy took at the Vietnam Wall Memorial when we were in Washington D.C. a few weeks ago. Neat, isn't it?

Cassidy Finishes 2nd!!

Gus on Left

Gus Cassidy that is! Gus participated in the Callaway Garden's Steeplechase JRT races on Saturday. He placed second in the stakes race. As some of you may remember he also placed second at his last JRT sanctioned event (Atlanta Steeplechase). We were pleased with his performance, but his competitive father (Nick) says the training must continue. Gus's next race will be in April at the Atlanta Steeplechase. We will be hoping for a first place ribbon! :)
